Insurance Services

From hull insurance to P&I, from Greece's compulsory cover to transport insurance — complete risk management for your vessel.

Cover We Arrange

  • Hull and machinery insurance
  • Third-party liability and Greece's compulsory third-party liability cover
  • P&I (Protection & Indemnity) insurance
  • Wreck removal cover
  • Crew health insurance
  • Road and sea (on-deck) transport insurance for vessels
  • Cover for marina and boatyard risks
  • Third-party liability insurance for marina / boatyard operators

Hull Insurance or P&I?

Hull and machinery insurance covers the vessel's hull and machinery against risks such as fire, collision and storm. P&I insurance covers damage to third parties, environmental pollution and crew-related liabilities. For commercially operated and charter vessels in particular, both should be considered together.

Compulsory Cover for Cruising in Greece

Vessels cruising in Greek waters must hold Greece's specific compulsory third-party liability cover in addition to standard third-party liability. We arrange this policy with limits suited to your cruising plan.

Insurance During Transport

When your vessel is transported by road or on deck, it should also be covered by separate transport insurance — your hull policy generally does not extend to this. We arrange this cover alongside our transport organisation service.

Marina Insurance

Your vessel spends most of the year not under way, but berthed in a marina or ashore in a boatyard. These periods are not risk-free: fire spreading from a neighbouring boat, storms and hail, theft, lifting accidents during haul-out and launch, and mooring lines parting are among the most common causes of damage.

A comprehensive vessel policy covers your boat not only while under way, but also while berthed in a marina, ashore in a boatyard, and during launch and haul-out. Checking whether your policy extends to these periods is the most critical detail when a claim arises.

Why Do Marinas Require Insurance?

In Türkiye, insurance is not a legal requirement for private pleasure craft. However, the vast majority of marinas, ports and boatyards require a valid policy — in particular third-party liability cover with an adequate limit — before accepting a vessel into their facility. The reason is to protect the facility itself, other vessels and its staff.

Before signing a berthing contract

Marina berthing contracts generally hold the owner personally liable for damage caused to other vessels and third parties during berthing and departure, during parking, haul-out and launch ashore, and during maintenance and repair. Before signing, make sure your policy also covers these situations — we're happy to review it with you.

For Marina and Boatyard Operators

If you operate a marina or boatyard, we also arrange marina / boatyard operator's liability insurance, covering your legal liability for damage caused to third parties in the course of your operations.

Main Factors Determining the Premium

  • The vessel's age, type, value (motor / sailing, speedboat) and construction
  • Berthing location — a sheltered marina lowers the risk and therefore the premium
  • How it winters — ashore in a boatyard or afloat in the water
  • Cruising area — Turkish territorial waters only, the wider Mediterranean, or international waters
  • Intended use (private / commercial) and the skipper's experience

Policies should be arranged annually

Vessels are at risk not only during the season, but also over winter while ashore in a boatyard or berthed in a marina. For this reason, vessel policies are best arranged annually rather than seasonally.
