The Jersey (Channel Islands) flag is one of the Red Ensign flags managed by the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Why Jersey?

  • Register document period is 10 years — Red Ensign is the longest period among the registries. You do not need to pay any taxes, visa or paperwork renewal fees or take action in Jersey during these 10 years.
  • Registered boats are given a lifetime Call Sign and MMSI number . If your boat has an IMO number, you can have it included in the documents.
  • The registration document is traditionally published in the original (hard copy) format of A3 size, known as “Blue Book”. Transcript can be obtained, query and verification can be made by requesting from the registry.

Who Can Register?

The Jersey Ship Register is a international registry and accepts private and commercial yachts up to 399 GT, located anywhere in the world. The register is not limited to just UK companies or nationals.

Company Establishment Procedures

No obligation to go to Jersey port

A yacht registered in Jersey, unlike most flags, is not required to physically travel or enter the Jersey harbour. The registration certificate is also a title deed and allows a mortgage to be registered on the yacht.
