Issues to Consider on Foreign Flag Boats

1. Foreign companies in which foreign flagged boats are registered must pay taxes to their affiliated countries every year.
2. Taxes and fees not paid on time are collected with interest; If payment is not made, the company and boat records in question will be closed. These taxes vary depending on the company and boat characteristics, as well as the type of flag flown.
3. The validity period of Transit Log documents is 1 (one) year and should be checked regularly.
4. With the Transit Log renewed every year, the duration of stay of the boats in Türkiye is 5 (five) years; At the end of every 5 years, the boat must go abroad.
5. In order for the boat to navigate smoothly in Türkiye, the necessary documents must be completely obtained and kept on the boat at all times.
6. It is important that some of these documents be notary and translation certified, while the documents coming from foreign countries are Apostilled and consulate approved.
7. Foreign flagged boats can purchase “transit fuel” only when the boat is going abroad.
8. It is against Turkish customs and boat legislation for persons who do not reside abroad to register the boat in their own names; Registration must be made on foreign company.
